West Branch Soccer Camp set to go in August

WOODWARD TOWNSHIP, PA – The 41st annual West Branch Soccer Camp is ready to roll at the West Branch Soccer Club Fields across the river from Lock Haven.

This year’s camp, for ages 5 to 14 and grades kindergarten through eighth is for both boys and girls, aimed at getting youth soccer players prepared for the fall season. Camp dates are August 8-12.

Camp director is Abe Stauffer, a head coach at the high school level for 35 years and holder of the USSF “B License” and the NSCAA “Advanced National Diploma.” Camp staff will include Central Mountain High School coaches and many former or current college and high school players; they will include two former local high school all-state players in Chad Feerrar and Andy Rosamilia. 31 coaches were involved in the camp in 2021, the longest running camp in Clinton County.

Stauffer said the camp “is a great way to get ready for your fall season, be it West Branch Travel, in-house, or junior high.”

The camp will be held from 9 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. daily. Cost of participation is $85 and all participants will receive a soccer ball and t-shirt at the conclusion of the camp. Participants will be grouped according to age and ability.

Stauffer explained that the camp emphasis is to create a learning environment where the camper is introduced to the skills, techniques and tactics associated with the modern game of soccer. “Older, more advanced players will work on more advanced skills and tactics to challenge them.”
