Second Island Bridge reopens to traffic
LOCK HAVEN, PA – The potholes have disappeared from the Second Island Bridge in Dunnstable Township. Shut down with traffic detoured for several months while repairs were carried out, the bridge at the east end of the Great Island reopened to traffic on Friday.
An official at the site told therecord-online that some additional work needs to be completed on the River Road bridge and there may be a need for a flagman at times, but the bridge is open to through traffic.
PennDOT had announced earlier that work there will last through July and mainly include substructure repairs. Preservation work on the bridge will improve its sufficiency rating from poor to good, according to PennDOT.
