Clinton 12s outduel Danville for 3-2 victory at sectionals

TOWANDA, PA-The Clinton Softball 12s got started in the opening round of sectional play with a 3-2 win over Danville Tuesday night. Not challenged at the district level last month, Manager Shawn Weaver’s team was tested by Danville and responded with the huge win.
Clinton got off with an early start scoring two in the first. Danville battled back in the top of the fifth to tie the game.
Clinton’s Maesyn Franquet came up big in the bottom of the fifth singling on a ground ball to the shortstop, stealing second base and scoring on an error for what would be the game-winning run. Clinton would allow no runs in the top of the sixth for the win.
Left-handed pitcher Camdyn Weaver got the win for Clinton. Surrendering only two runs on eight hits over six innings for the night. She struck out 10 and walked no one.
Clinton had four hits for the evening. Reagan Weaver and Maesyn Franquet each with two. Franquet would score twice on the evening for Clinton and Reagan. Weaver once.
Danville would hold Clinton to three runs on the evening, allowing four hits and striking out six. Batting, Danville had eight hits.
Up next Clinton will play the District 15 Champion Tunkhannock Wednesday in the winners bracket semi-final game.
