Loganton area woman scammed out of $3,500

LOGANTON, PA – State police say a Greene Township woman is out $3,500 in gift cards, duped by a non-existent loan company.

Police released details on the incident Sunday, the fraud occurring on March 15, the victim a 49-year-old woman from Sugar Haven Lane in Greene Township.

According to their report, the victim attempted to apply online to a website. After sending her information she received a phone call from what she thought was the loan company. She provided all her banking information to that person. She then was asked to send money for “processing” her loan. The next day the company called her and requested her to buy Walmart debt/visa cards and then give the numbers to this company. Soon after doing this, police said, the phone number was disconnected; the victim out $3,500.
