Central Mountain softball downs Shamokin 11-0 for win #12
COAL TOWNSHIP, PA – After four scoreless innings the bats came alive for Central Mountain softball and the runs followed, an 11-0 Thursday win over Shamokin (3-4). Kelsey Burrows reached on a 2-base throwing error to the stage for Caitlyn Watson’s 2-run homer over the center field fence. After Shamokin was held scoreless in the bottom of the inning, the Wildcats pour on 9 more runs in the top of the sixth.
Watson was 3 for 5 at the plate with 5 RBI’s. Harley Kunes, Madisyn Wian and Audrey Walker each had two hits. Maddie Hardy and Kelsey Burrows each added one hit.
Addie McKeague pitched the complete game shutout going 6 innings, facing 22 batters, giving up 2 hits and 1 walk.
Central Mountain is now 12-1 on the season and in first place in the Heartland Conference I and sits atop the District 6 Class 5A rankings. The next game is a Friday evening game at Jersey Shore.
