BALD EAGLE TOWNSHIP, PA – Central Mountain High School music teacher Ashley Crust, is a recent recipient of a Pennsylvania Association of Rural and Small Schools (PARSS) Teacher Grant for the 21-22 school year. PARSS teacher grants are for use in the classroom and allow teachers to provide enhanced learning experiences for their students.

Of the $4500 total grant money PARSS awarded to various schools, Ms. Crust won $1799.65 to be used on an electronic musical instrument workshop that will be led by local electronics technician, Brian Douty. The CMHS band and orchestra classes will learn designing and building of electronic musical instruments. The project is designed to introduce students to a different way of creating live music.

At the conclusion of the workshop, groups will compose or improvise short musical works using their newly created electronic instruments. Students will collaboratively set goals and create artwork that is meaningful and has purpose.
