Veterans Day on Thursday; special events announced

LOCK HAVEN, PA – The Clinton County Veterans Affairs office has posted word on multiple special events locally in conjunction with the Thursday, Nov. 11 observance of Veterans Day across the United States.

In addition to the traditional annual school and cemetery observances, the Veterans Affairs office listed these events:

Wednesday, Nov. 10 from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. a “Veterans Day dinner and celebration with Geisinger” at Geisinger’s Thompson Street, Jersey Shore. Geisinger will be providing a complimentary dinner for a Veteran and one guest, on a drive-through arrangement. Reservations were required by Nov. 5 and Veterans must wear a mask when picking up their meal.

 

Thursday, Nov. 11 from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. (or sold out), a Veterans Day Spaghetti Dinner at the Lock Haven Loyal Order of Moose Lodge 100 on Hanna Street, Lock Haven. The event is a fundraiser for the new Veterans Park planned for E. Water Street in Lock Haven. The meal, dine in or take-out, is free for Veterans with proof of service and $10 for guests and the general public; ages 12 and under, $5.

Friday, Nov. 12 from 4:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m., Lock Haven Cub Scout Pack 66 and Troop 711 will provide a free dinner to Veterans and their families, the location the Lock Haven VFW on E. Water Street. A full turkey dinner will be provided and the event is dine in or take-out. Saturday, Nov. 13 from 12 noon to 4 p.m. the Hyner Lodge Foundation is presenting a Veterans only Monte Carlo Night at 2311 Hyner Mountain Road. The event is dubbed “for a time of healing thru camaraderie.” RSVP is requested at 570-769-2791. The organization notes it is a smoke and alcohol-free environment.
