BLOOMSBURG, PA – The Lock Haven University men’s soccer team (9-2-2, 7-1-1 PSAC East) took down Bloomsburg University (9-6, 5-5 PSAC East), 3-1, in a Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Eastern Division matchup on Saturday, one with playoff implications on the line.

In the 37th minute, the Bald Eagles got rolling when Samuel Hershey (Lancaster, Pa./McCaskey) headed home a corner kick from Beckham Sibiski (Kutztown, Pa./Kutztown H.S.) for his sixth goal of the season.

It also marked Sibiski’s ninth assist on the year. The Bald Eagles took the 1-0 lead into the halftime break.

Early in the second half Sibiski got a goal of his own after beating two defenders, and hitting a curled effort just outside the box into the top corner. The strike gave the senior-midfielder four goals on the season and marked his third in two games.

Bloomsburg struck back in the 59th minute to pull the score to 2-1, but Hershey bagged his second goal of the game and his seventh of the season to provide the insurance goal for LHU. Hershey one-timed a cross from Tom Pombor (Williamsport, Pa./Williamsport) and pushed the Lock Haven lead to 3-1.

Goalkeeper Aitor Ruiz de Eguilaz (Euskadi, Spain/Koldo Mitxelena (Robert Morris)) made just one save, as Chase Tackett (Bethlehem, Pa./Liberty) commanded the backline which allowed just two shots on goal.

For LHU, the win marks the Bald Eagles third in a row and snapped the Huskies three-game win streak.

Next up Lock Haven hosts Shepherd on Wednesday, Oct. 27. That game is slated for a 5 p.m. kickoff.
