LOCK HAVEN, PA – City officials and family members surprised Lock Haven’s longtime parks and recreation director Jack Bailey at a ribbon-cutting Wednesday evening at one of the venues he had helped develop and maintain.

The honor was held at the Jack Bailey Playground at Hammerill Park for Bailey who retired in 2019 after 59 years in service to the community, including 45 years as recreation director for the city and the Keystone Central School District.

Bailey’s successor Kasey Campbell told the assemblage of family members and friends of the many young lives Bailey had positively impacted through his work in recreation.

The Wednesday ribbon-cutting followed City Council recognition for Bailey at his retirement in December of 2019. A proclamation at the time read in part that Bailey “has dedicated himself to the advancement of the recreational opportunities for the city and its residents…(through his) unselfish efforts and contributions to the welfare of the city and its residents.”
