Sen. Casey makes Clinton County stop
LOCKPORT, PA – Pennsylvania US Sen. Bob Casey made a brief Clinton County visit to update county Democrats on Washington affairs.
The three-term Democratic senator told an assemblage of some 50 people at Riverview Park Wednesday afternoon that recent legislative success in Washington came without virtually any Republican help. He cited the American Rescue Plan which passed the senate with no GOP support, a measure providing money for, among other things, vaccinations and child tax credits, and a recent infrastructure bill with 50 Democratic votes and 19 from Republicans.
He offered support for pending family-oriented legislation which he said would aid rural Pennsylvania, noting that Clinton County is one of 47 of the state’s 67 counties categorized as rural.
The Casey visit was part of a trip through central Pennsylvania on Wednesday, preceded by a stop in Montoursville and followed by a visit to Milton. Asked what his constituents were sharing with him, Casey said they were focused on getting the country past the COVID crisis, talked of the benefits of the American Rescue Plan and expressed an interest in governmental investment in climate change.
Clinton County Democratic Party Chairman Rose Reeder welcomed Casey to the event. After his opening comments, he met individually with constituents before departing.
