Downtown LH restaurant preps for outside dining
LOCK HAVEN, PA – Downtown’s Sarah’s Alley will soon be open for outdoor dining. Workers on Friday were seen stringing lights in the alley between Stella A’s restaurant and the Strouse law firm building, preparatory to opening the alley for dining.
Lock Haven City Council in March approved a request from Stella A’s to close off Sarah’s Alley from E. Main Street to Jordans Alley in order to offer additional dining outside at the restaurant. The restaurant’s Tony Anastos said the lights are the first step in site preparation and said the outside dining there should be available sometime in early May.
Council’s March approval was one in a recent series of city assistance to downtown restaurants. At its initial April meeting, council gave its unanimous approval to a proposal to block off the Grove Street entrance to its E. Church Street municipal parking lot to assist the Old Corner, a city business adversely affected by the yearlong pandemic.
The Old Corner received city approval to take the approximate 20 by 20 foot Grove Street lot entrance area, provide a 5-foot wide walking path and place up to four tables on the site and be in compliance with social distancing guidelines.
