CM softball with 6-0 win over Lady Seals
By Tom Elling
BALD EAGLE TOWNSHIP, PA – The Lady Wildcats won their fourth in-a-row and their eighth in all (8-1) as they shutout Selinsgrove (3-5) at the Central Mountain athletic complex, 6-0, on Thursday, behind the seven hit pitching of Allison Lininger (3-1). The right-hander fanned eight, allowing just one base on balls in her 7 innings of work.
Defensively, the Central Mountain girls were again flawless with Alexis Strouse and Kelsey Burrows making some excellent plays in the outfield. Catcher Caitlyn Watson also made a hustling foul-ball catch to end the game.
While the weather was a bit chilly, the Wildcats bats remained hot as five players contributed with hits. Madison Hardy was 3-for-4 with a double and two RBI. Alyssa Fisher continued her outstanding week blasting a 3-run homerun over the left field fence in the 4th. That blast provided the CM girls with a cushion. Riley Houser had a double and played a stellar game at shortstop. CF Alexis Strouse slapped two singles and Maggie Saar a single in the winning effort.
Central Mountain, top ranked in the District 6 Class 5 A standings, will travel to Shikellamy (7-4) next Tuesday, April 27 and complete the week entertaining Shamokin (7-2) on Thursday, April 29 and Jersey Shore (2-1) on Friday, April 30.
