Lady Bucks down SV Phoenix, 16-1
FARWELL, PA – The Bucktail Lady Bucks continued their early season dominance on Tuesday, earning a 16-1, 3-inning win over visiting Sugar Valley Charter.
The visiting Lady Phoenix took a 1-0 lead in the top of the first, but would get no more. Meanwhile the Lady Bucks answered with nine in the first, six in the second and one in the third and final inning.
Makenzie Wagner and Emma Poorman split the pitching duties, combining on a 1-hitter and striking out seven. Wagner went the first two and Poorman finished up. Meanwhile the home team pounded out 14 hits, led by Jordan Burrows with two singles, a triple and four RBIs. Wagner helped her cause with two hits, including a double, and drove in three runs. Julie Green also had two hits, both singles. Other hits came from RaiLeigh Isaacs, Haley Burrows, Poorman, Lily Francis, Alexis Lowery, Giada DeMarte and Katelyn Barnes as Coach Mike Poorman was able to get 11 players into the contest. Trinity McKeague had the lone Sugar Valley hit.
Bucktail is now 2-0 on the season. Next up is a home Thursday game with St. Joseph’s Catholic Academy at 4:30 p.m. and a noon, Saturday contest, also at home, with Williamson (1-0).
