Five Central Mountain girls competing at girls wrestling state championships Sunday

MANHEIM, PA – Girls’ wrestling at Central Mountain High School became a school district recognized sport this school year and five members of the first girls’ team will be competing Sunday at the Girls Wrestling State Championships at the Spooky Nook Sports Complex in Manheim.

There are nine school district-sanctioned programs across Pennsylvania, Central Mountain among them. The PIAA needs 100 such sanctioned teams to take girls wrestling under its umbrella.

Central Mountain head coach Biff Walizer and assistant Doug Buckwalter will be coaching these five in Manheim: freshmen Abigail Sneath and Rhiannon McCracken; sophomore Leeah Eisenhower; seniors Maddie Packer and Olivia Miller. Packer was a starter on the Wildcat boys’ team this past season, compiling a 7-7 record.

Grace Stem, a starter on the Bald Eagle Area boys’ team this season, is also scheduled to compete.
