Simcox defeated in consi semifinals, will wrestle for fifth

HERSHEY, PA – Central Mountain’s Luke Simcox lost his consolation semifinal match on Saturday to former PIAA champion Ethan Berginc from Hempfield Area, the score 6-3.

Berginc avenged an 11-6 to Simcox at the west super regional last Saturday. This time the two were scoreless after one, Simcox reversed in period two for a 2-0 lead and Berginc escaped to put the score at 2-1 Simcox after two. Berginc chose down to start period three, escaped, picked up a takedown to take a 4-2 lead; Simcox would escape and trailed 4-3. Berginc picked up a clinching takedown just before the final buzzer to set the final at 6-3.

Simcox will now wrestle for fifth place Saturday evening. His opponent will be Patrick Snoke from Northampton, a wrestler he defeated by a 5-2 score in his quarterfinal match Saturday morning.
