John Charles Gephart – Obituary
John Charles Gephart, age 73, of Mackeyville went to be with his Lord and Savior on Tuesday, December 29, 2020.
Born July 3, 1947, he was the son of the late Dean and Irene (Brungart) Gephart.
He married the love of his life, Gail Gilmore, on January 6, 1968.
Charlie was a 1965 graduate of Bald Eagle Nittany High School. He served in the US Air Force from 1966 to 1970, having served a tour of duty in Vietnam. Charlie traveled in and out of different countries on a C-130 Hercules aircraft, his most favorite airplane. His love of flying continued through the rest of his life, evident by obtaining his pilots license and being one of the founders of the 3-Cs Flying Club.
He and Gail were owners of Charlie’s Grocery in Lock Haven for 20 years. Charlie then went on to work in sales for Lipez Broadcasting Company and later became an Account Executive at the Lock Haven Express. He was also the Tax Collector for Lamar Township.
Charlie was a 40+ year member of the Mill Hall Kiwanis Club, coached Jr. High football at Bald Eagle Nittany and served his community by delivering Meals on Wheels.
He also enjoyed many tractor runs with the late Buck Weaver in Lamar Township and the surrounding areas.
Charlie had a love of singing and found pure joy being on the Praise Team at New Hope Fellowship Church where his love for the Lord grew each day.
Along with his parents, Charlie was preceded in death by two brothers, Gerald Gephart and Gary Gephart and one sister, Lucille Reisinger.
He is survived by his sister, Marlene (Andy) Harris; his wife of 53 years, Gail Gephart; two daughters, Kimberly (Steve) Marconi and Tammie (Shawn) Readinger; three grandchildren: Landon and Kaitlyn Readinger and Jessica Marconi; and one great grandson, Kylan Readinger. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
Respecting Charlie’s wishes, there will be no viewing or funeral service.
