1,150 Take Advantage of Free County Coronavirus Testing
LOCK HAVEN, PA – The turnout for free COVID-19 tests in Clinton County was less than expected, approximately 1,150 tests administered over the five day period ending on Monday of this week. The testing site at the Castanea Fire Company Picnic Grounds had been set up to handle 2,250, so the turnout was just over half of the number of people who could have been accommodated.
Monday was the final day for the tests and 250 people turned out. As of the Monday date, state figures showed that 6,578 county residents had been tested for COVID since the start of the pandemic, only about 17 percent of the county population.
Andrew Kremser, the county’s director of emergency services, said, “We are happy with the opportunity to provide testing to the residents of Clinton County and our surrounding region.” And he offered thanks for those who helped with the five-day effort: “The Department of Emergency Services would like to thank AMI for their hard work. We would also like to thank Castanea Fire Department for the use of their facility as well as Beech Creek Fire Dept. and Lock Haven Fire Dept for the use of their light towers.”
