UPMC Lock Haven: Open for Business
By John Lipez
LOCK HAVEN, PA – A month after a nearby tunnel fire forced the closing of UPMC Lock Haven, the Cree Drive hospital returned to full services on Monday of this week. The importance of the hospital’s role in the greater Lock Haven community was noted by Clinton County Commissioner Angela Harding at the commissioners’ Monday work session.
Harding thanked UPMC Lock Haven President Ron Reynolds, the administration, doctors, nurses and staff on “their hard work, persistence and commitment to reopening our community hospital.”
“We as a community had a taste of what not having an ER or a local hospital would be like through the remediation post-fire. I encourage you to support UPMC Lock Haven and doing so, you’ll guarantee that we keep our hospital and the jobs it creates and maintains in our community.”
Reynolds, in announcing the reopening, had offered thanks for those who had a role in the hospital recovery, adding, “The past few weeks have demonstrated how essential our services are to Lock Haven, and likewise, how much our hospital needs our community.”
The Sept. 10 fire brought hundreds and hundreds of volunteer firemen to the hospital to contain the fire to the tunnel connecting the hospital boiler plant to the hospital.
