LHU Going to Online Learning Only for Two Weeks
LOCK HAVEN, PA – Lock Haven University has notified the university community that the school is going to online only learning for a two week period. The announcement was emailed Tuesday morning. A spokesperson in the school’s media relations department confirmed the online only decision and said a news release to that effect would be released later Tuesday.
That word follows an increase of seven in the number of positive test results for COVID-19 reported earlier on Tuesday.
The new total of cases has jumped from eight last Friday to a new Tuesday overall total of 40. The school’s dashboard said 822 tests have been administered with 40 positive test results and 781 negative results. That equates to a positivity rate of 4.9 percent, just below the 5.0 percent positivity rate recognized as the benchmark for high risk of community spread. And those numbers resulted in the decision to halt in-person instruction for a two week period.
The LHU dashboard can be seen at http://www.lockhaven.edu/Covid19Dashboard/ and is normally updated daily at 9 a.m. on weekdays.
