City Seeking New Proposals for Vacant Bellefonte Avenue Site
LOCK HAVEN – The City of Lock Haven through its Redevelopment Authority is again seeking proposals for development of the old Heilig-Meyers/Town Tavern plot at 37-55 Bellefonte Avenue.
The city had an earlier development proposal for the vacant site but according to City Manager Greg Wilson, the redevelopment authority was not completely satisfied, so new proposals are being sought. The deadline to submit development prosals is this Friday. At last check, Wilson said, several prospective developers have expressed interest. The redevelopment authority will then review all proposals submitted.
Meanwhile the city, as announced earlier, has a deal for sale of its old city garage site at 2 E.Walnut Street. The developer is Vasas, Inc., the same firm which is completing the nearby Lucky 7 Travel Plaza. Vasas will pay $200,000 for the old garage site when the deal is finalized. Those plans are for a 3-year timeline for development including design, permitting and breaking ground once the property is sold to Vasas Inc. Specific plans for that 2-acre site have not been announced.
