Summer Concert Series Begins Friday, with CDC Guidelines in Place
LOCK HAVEN – The City’s summer concert series begins its 21st year Friday evening, but it will be significantly different from the preceding twenty.
Because of the coronavirus pandemic, the city has issued an advisory for those attending the Friday concert at 6 p.m. with Big Willy and the Sunday concert at 6:30 p.m. with the Jeremy Edge Project. Friday evening concerts have been relocated to Main and Grove Streets as part of the pedestrian mall established each Friday and Saturday during the summer. Sunday’s concert will be, as always, at the Corman Amphitheater.
The city this week issued this advisory:
“While the committee is excited to offer these free concerts this summer, residents should remain vigilant to the threat of COVID-19 which has claimed the lives of more than 100,000 Americans and more than 6,000 Pennsylvanians including three in Clinton County. In order to successfully continue the summer concert series, residents and guests are to follow CDC and DOH guidelines in order to reduce the risk of exposure to COVID-19 including social distancing between non-household members while attending the concert, wearing masks, and sanitizing hands frequently. To that end, the city will provide hand-washing stations at each of the summer concerts, and seating at the amphitheater will be limited to 250 attendees. Anyone who is experiencing symptoms of COVID-19 or is included in a higher risk population are encouraged to keep their health and the health of their fellow residents as their primary interest and not attend.”
And Lock Haven Mayor Joel Long on Friday asked for the public’s cooperation:
“This weekend is the start of our Summer Concert Series. Please remember that Social Distancing is still in place. We ask that you wear a mask until you’re seated with those whom you’re comfortable with. Then you can remove your mask and enjoy the show. When it’s time to leave please mask up until you’re no longer at the facility. We’re excited to provide the Series at a time when many things have been cancelled. Please help us to be able to provide this all summer long. We don’t want to be forced to end the Series early. It’s not asking much to respect one another.”
