Mount Nittany Health Reports Two Patients Test Positive for Coronavirus

STATE COLLEGE – Mount Nittany Health announced Friday that two patients within its system have tested positive for coronavirus. The announcement came shortly after the state Health Department had announced a first case in Centre County. There has been no word as to if the initial Centre County case is among the two at Mount Nittany, nor any word on the residences of those diagnosed with the virus. Mount Nittany also maintains offices in Blair and Mifflin counties.

Anissa Ilie, a spokesperson at Mount Nittany, said the two individuals are in isolation at home.

The facility’s Chief Medical Officer, Nirmal Joshi, provided this statement:

“Our team of expert health care providers, staff and multidisciplinary Preparedness and Response Team have been carefully preparing for this and expecting this day to come. As always, the safety of our patients, staff and community remains our highest priority.”

Word from the state Health Department came earlier Friday that initial cases of the virus had been reported in Centre and Potter counties, both bordering Clinton County where no cases have been reported to this point.
