Site Preparation Work at Hand for New Geisinger Medical Clinic
LOCK HAVEN – Preliminary steps are underway for the planned Geisinger Medical Clinic in Lock Haven. Contractors in recent days have secured the site at Spring and W. Fourth streets, with construction of the new, two-story facility to begin this spring.
Marc Stempka, Geisinger spokesman in Danville, said groundwork and site preparation is what people are seeing at present. “The project is still on schedule with an early 2021 opening, but we’re still in February, so the weather remains the great unknown when it comes to construction and maintaining that timeline,” he said.
The clinic was first announced in March of last year, the site the old Lock Haven High School football practice field. The new facility is part of a clinical joint venture between Geisinger and Highmark Health. Services will include a walk-in urgent care center, adult and pediatric primary care offices and imaging and lab services. The new facility is also to house physical and occupational therapy, as well as a specialty clinic with dermatology, cardiology, gastroenterology, surgery and women’s health services.
Geisinger in late 2018 had completed its $1.93 million purchase of the several connected third ward Lock Haven holdings as part of its plan to build the new health services clinic.
