Durrwachter Recognized for Service as LHU Council of Trustees’ Chair
LOCK HAVEN, Pa. — Lock Haven University President Robert Pignatello recently recognized George Durrwachter for his service as chair of the Council of Trustees from 2016-19.
Durrwachter has been a member of the LHU community for more than 60 years. He graduated from LHU in 1961 with a bachelor’s degree in health and physical education and used it to pursue a successful career in dentistry and orthodontics for more than three decades.
Also during his time as a student, he was a member of the track and field team, served as an athletic trainer and was a founding member of the TKE fraternity.
As financial supporters of the university, he and his wife, Shirley, have established the Durrwachter Scholarship, were leading contributors for the Durrwachter Alumni Conference Center and provided funding for the Welcome Arch that greets LHU visitors to campus.
Durrwachter also has served as past member and president of the LHU Foundation Board and has been a member of the Council of Trustees since April 2002.
