Truck-Lite Looks at Closing New York State Plant

LOCK HAVEN – Clinton County economic officials expect no impact at the Truck-Lite facility in McElhattan in the wake of an announcement this week that Truck-Lite has tentative plans to close its manufacturing facility in Falconer, NY by the end of this year.

Truck-Lite’s McElhattan plant has over 300 employs and has a “now hiring” sign at the entrance to the facility.

A spokesperson at Truck-Lite’s Falconer operation on Thursday told the Post-Journal of Jamestown, NY of a “tentative decision to cease production…by the end of this year and relocate work to other Truck-Lite facilities.” The announcement did not say how many Falconer workers would be affected by the closure.

Truck-Lite has 10 facilities in North America and Europe, including its McElhattan operation. The company announced last year it was relocating its corporate headquarters from Falconer to Southfield, Mich. The company was founded in 1955 in Jamestown, NY.
