Pole Falls Over at Lock Haven’s Jones/Bald Eagle Streets Intersection

LOCK HAVEN – A crew from Lecce Electric out of Williamsport had to be called in near Dickey Elementary School along W. Bald Eagle Street Wednesday morning when a utility pole at the intersection with S. Jones Street fell over. When the pole went down, it took with it the wire used to support two amber traffic warning lights suspended over the intersection.

A city employee said a utility crew was replacing a pole on the intersection’s northwest corner, that pole supporting the wires holding up the signal lights. While they were carrying out their work, the stand-alone pole at the intersection’s southeast corner, connected by the wire, toppled over; the base of that pole was determined to be rotted.

No injuries were reported and no electrical service was disrupted. The city hopes to have the flashing amber lights back in use by Thursday morning.
