Man Escapes Serious Injury in Saturday Evening Lock Haven Fire

LOCK HAVEN – City firemen turned out in full force Saturday evening for what proved to be a minor fire in an East Water Street apartment.

Lock Haven Fire Chief Will Harber said the occupant at 204 E. Water St. fell asleep while smoking. He awoke, the chief said, to find his clothes on fire. The man removed them and doused them in his toilet, the chief said. Damage was minimal, confined to the clothes, the chair the man was sleeping in and the floor.

Chief Harber said firemen ventilated the apartment and no further service was required. The alarm came in around 7 p.m. Saturday. The victim’s identity was not released. City police also responded to the call.
