Lady Buck Streak at Nine; 14-4 Over Millville
FARWELL – The Bucktail softball team on Thursday started second cycle play in the Mid-Penn Conference the way the Lady Bucks finished the first half, another one-sided victory, this time by a 14-4 count over visiting Millville, the game over in the fifth on the 10-run rule.
The Bucktail offense remained unstoppable, piling up runs in each of the four innings the team got to bat, ending with 14 on 12 hits. Freshman Emma Poorman continued her unconscious first year, going 3-for-3 with three runs scored, six runs batted in, one walk, a single and two doubles. She now sports a .767 batting average with 41 RBIs in nine games. The team as a whole is hitting .484.
Joining the hit parade were Jordan Burrows with a double and a triple and Kayli Casper with two singles. Emily Intallura had a single and a double, with singles from Raileigh Issacs, Tessa Cowfer and Emily Cross.
Once again the Poorman sisters split the pitching duties, Myka going the first two innings to earn the win, giving up four hits and four runs, three of them earned, striking out one. Emma finished with three shutout innings, giving up two hits and striking out six.
Bucktail is now 9-0, scoring in double-figures in every game. The Lady Bucks are off until Tuesday, April 23, hosting Montgomery. Bucktail already owns a 19-2 win over their downriver rival.
