Lady Bucks Down Griffins, 18-7
LAPORTE – The Bucktail softball team traveled to Laporte on Thursday and picked up win number six in six tries, an 18-7 six-inning romp over Sullivan County. The Lady Buck offense was in high gear from the get-go, scoring in every inning while piling up 20 base hits.
The freshmen duo of Julie Green and Jordan Burrows set the table for the Lady Bucks. From the first and second spots in the batting order they were a combined 8-for-11, each with four hits and two doubles, Green with a team-high 5 runs batted in.
Juniors Kayli Casper and Emily Cross each had a 3-hit day with a double. Multiple hits came from Raileigh Francis and Emma Poorman, two singles each. Other singles came from Tessa Cowfer and Myka Poorman.
The Poorman sisters shared pitching duties, combining on an 8-hitter, Myka Poorman credited with the win. Myka struck out 6 Griffins in five innings of work while Emma record two Ks in one inning in the circle.
The 6-0 Lady Bucks are to travel to St. John Neumann (2-2) in Williamsport Saturday for an 11 a.m. game.
