Lady Bucks Roll On
SHINGLEHOUSE – The Bucktail softball train rolled into Shinglehouse on Wednesday and returned home with yet another mercy rule win, rolling over Oswayo Valley by a 13-0 score in five innings.
The win put the Lady Bucks at 5-0, all terminated in less than the regulation seven innings. This time it was junior Myka Poorman in the circle and she responded with a 5-inning, two-hit shutout, striking out six and walking none.
Bucktail took advantage of 9 walks, every player drawing at least one and helped their cause with 16 stolen bases. Emily Cross paced the offense with three hits, including a homerun and two singles and piled up four steals. Jordan Burrows also stole four bases and contributed two singles. Emma Poorman helped out with three singles. The Lady Bucks were held scoreless in the top of the first but put across runs in each succeeding inning.
The latest MaxPrep rankings have Bucktail as the number seven ranked Class A team in the state. The Lady Bucks have out-scored their five opponents by a 75-7 clip to this point.
Next up is a home contest Thursday with Sullivan County (2-1), game time 4:30, then a trip to St. John Neumann (1-2) Saturday for a 1 p.m. start.
