Fallon Hotel Reported Sold

LOCK HAVEN – It’s been something of a mystery to track down, but Lock Haven’s Fallon Hotel is now apparently owned by a Florida firm.

A spokesperson at Jackson Real Estate in Jersey Shore confirmed that the sale, by way of articles of agreement for the historic hotel, was agreed to last Friday. She could not confirm a sale price of $70,000 reported elsewhere. The Jackson firm has been the agent for the sellers, Terry and Dolores Mantle of Jersey Shore.

As of Tuesday of this week nothing pertaining to a sale has been recorded with Clinton County government but as noted by county assessor Keith Yearick, there is no legal requirement that articles of agreement be recorded.

Word of the sale came five months since reports first surfaced that a Florida firm was pursuing purchase of the Fallon. In November a Pennsylvania Liquor Control Board placard was placed on the front of the building, stating a liquor license transfer was pending to “C & Q Tavern LLC.” Those initials match-up with the names of the two Florida men linked to the purchase, Carey Chisolm and David Quinones. Attempts to locate them for sale confirmation and their plans for the pre-Civil War structure have been fruitless to this point.

The Fallon, a Water Street landmark which has fallen on hard times in the last decade or two, had been posted for sale in January of last year after the building’s heating system gave out and the final handful of tenants moved out.

According to county records, the Mantles purchased the Fallon in 1997 from the late Charles and Hazel Stevenson for $104,000. The asking price as of January of last year was $275,000. The sale had been listed “as is.” There was a report last October of a sale price of $199,000.
