DUNNSTOWN – It wasn’t a sleigh, it was a Dominion Energy truck and an SUV making the trip, not from the North Pole but from northern Clinton County on Thursday. A Dominion Energy crew made a previously unannounced stop at the Clinton County SPCA, pleasantly stunning the organization’s Community Outreach Coordinator, Marissa Henry.

The vehicles were loaded with everything the SPCA had put on its Christmas wish list, so much so the donations filled the shelter’s main hallway. The trip from Leidy Township was made by project organizer Tom Strong, along with Jim Morgan and Dale Gipe.

Strong said his love of animals prompted him to undertake the effort, supported by fellow workers and Dominion. Not only did Strong spearhead the project, he returned home with a newly adopted cat.

Dominion Energy Leidy Area manager Clarry Sockman said one of Dominion’s core values is supporting the community and organizations in the company’s operating area. “We are very proud of our employees’ ongoing volunteer work throughout our community who put together this project to support the SPCA,” he said. Dominion Energy matched the supplies and food the employees donated.

Outreach coordinator Henry said she was “overjoyed” by the visit. She said others who wish to help the SPCA at holiday time can go the shelter’s Facebook page for its Christmas season “wish list.”
