Lock Haven 2019 Budget on Track for Passage
LOCK HAVEN – Members of the public had a chance Monday night to comment on the City of Lock Haven’s proposed 2019 budget. No one took advantage of the opportunity at the council meeting; but additional discussion with city administrators followed the formal session.
The final council meeting for 2018 will be held Monday, Dec. 17 at which time council is expected to approve the city’s 2019 document first passed last month. It will keep real estate taxes unchanged in the new year.
Council did give its approval to several 2019 projects as presented by the Downtown Lock Haven Rotary Club. These include the organization’s annual Flags of Honor program Memorial Day weekend at Triangle Park and the annual Angel Lights event at the same park, to commemorate 9/11.
The Rotary group also plans “Little Libraries” at Triangle Park and Hanna Park. Club secretary Suzanne Foust said the libraries would be wooden boxes holding books that can be borrowed, read and returned or replaced with other books. She said it would be open to the public and maintained on a regular basis.
