Clinton 8-10 All-Stars Game Suspended due to Thunder Storm
HUGHESVILLE – The District 12 8-10 softball lower bracket final result will be delayed one day due to passing severe thunderstorms.
The game between East Lycoming and Clinton began on time but after only four outs, there were several severe lightning strikes observed much too close to the field and play was suspended for the mandatory 30 minute period to evaluate the situation. As time passed it became clear that an intense front would be passing through, this the game officials determined it would be in everyone’s best interest to postpone the game until Tuesday evening.
In their first meeting in Lock Haven on Jun 28, Clinton rolled to a 28-3 win over East Lycoming, tonight, EL stepped up their defense and held Clinton to only a single run in the top of the first.
That lone run to open up the game came as a result of a single from Ava Doyle, a walk for Rylan Yost and a fielder’s choice hit by Shea Yost along with some aggressive base running by Doyle to get into scoring position.
East Lycoming put up a couple of hits of their own in the bottom of the first and when the game resumes, EL will have one out on the board with a runner on third base.
The 11-12 consolation bracket game between Williamsport Area and Loyalsock never took the field tonight due to the same storm front passing through Montoursville. That game was also postponed until Tuesday.
