South turns Table on Clinton 8-10 All-Stars, 15-0

SOUTH WILLIAMSPORT – What a difference a day makes.

On Thursday, the Clinton Softball 8-10 All-Stars dispatched East Lycoming 28-3 in 3 innings, today, South handed Clinton a 15-0, 3 inning mercy rule loss.

The difference maker was South ace pitcher Alizabeth Schuler pitched a nearly perfect game and was backed up by a stingy defense while Clinton struggled to throw strikes.

South jumped out to a 5-0 lead in the top first inning then retired Clinton in order in the bottom of the inning.

South tacked on another run in the top of the second inning with Schuler allowing only one batter to reach base on a walk before recording the the third out extending their lead to 6-0.

In the top of the third inning, the wheels came off for the Clinton defense as South racked up 9 more runs FOR A 15-0 advantage. Clinton went down in order in the bottom of the third to end the game.

In-all, Schüler only faced 10 Clinton batters in the game striking out 5, allowing on the single walk.

Cirstyn Watson worked the circler Clinton but had her struggles yielding 4 hits and 13 walks, striking out 3 South batters.

Though Shuler had a great night, Clinton manager, Chip McCann thinks his squad is capable of doing better, “I’m hoping we get another chance against her and you’ll see a different Clinton team,” he promises.

To earn that opportunity at redemption, Clinton will have to battle back by getting past East Lycoming once more. EL picked up a 18-16 win over Loyalsock tonight for their rematch with Clinton which is slated for 6 p.m. Monday, July 2, 2018 at East Lycoming.

The winner of Monday’s game will gain a berth in the District 12 final at the Clinton Field at 6 p.m. on Wednesday, July 4, 2018.
