Mifflin County Man Victim in Friday Night Bald Eagle State Park Drowning

HOWARD – A Mifflin County young man lost his life when his vehicle went into the lake at Bald Eagle State Park Friday night.

Rockview state police identified the victim as Aleksey Yuri Bogdanets, 19, of Belleville. Their report said Bogdanets lost control of his vehicle near a boat launch on F. J Sayers Road in Liberty Township, causing the vehicle to go into the lake, the driver trapped inside.

Centre County dispatchers said the vehicle was seen in the water at about9:20 p.m. but was no longer visible by 9:23 p.m. Dive teams searched for the driver who was pronounced dead at the scene, according to authorities. They were not able to immediately say how long the recovery took.

The Howard fire department assisted at the scene.
