Wildcat Squads Split in Track and Field

MILL HALL – In double-dual action with Jersey Shore and Midd-West, both Central Mountain track and field teams split with the visiting teams. For the boys’ team the Wildcats picked up a 98-43 win over the Mustangs but fell to the Bulldogs, 94-56. While the Lady Wildcats were edged by ‘Shore 79-71 and picked up a big 104-35 win over Midd-West.

Picking up first place honors in both meets for Central Mountain boys’ were:

Corbin Green finished the 1600M run in 4:49.05. The Wildcat 4×100 relay team of Reece Haines-Moyer, Austin confer, Seth Andrus and RJ Shaffer raced to a time of 48.18. Joey More cleared the bar in the pole vault at 10′ even. In the 4×400 relay, Owen Rinker, Emre Yakut, Austin Confer and Micah Schall broke the tape in 3:35.30.

For the Lady Wildcats, earning first place points in both meets were:

Hunter Barger clocked in at 13.05 in the 100M dash. Alyssa Laughner vanquished all challengers in the 1600M run with a time of 5:39.89. Sadie McCaleb finished the 400M dash in 1:02.99. Olivia Pierson Cleared the 300M hurdles in 51.81. Madison Myers picked up the win in the 800M run in 2:32.20. The Lady ‘Cat 4×400 relay squad of Sadie McCaleb, Alyin Yakut, Madison Myers and Ashley Kline dashed to a first place finish in 4:22.46. Sarah Probst took top honors against all opponents in the discus with a throw of 99′ 1″.

Amelia McCloy set a new school record in the high jump clearing 5’ 4″. Amelia was tied with her older sibling, Grayson McCloy prior to shattering the mark.

Both teams will now prepare for their next major event, the West Central Coaches Invitational in Altoona on Friday, May 4, 2018.
