Bucktail Softball Loses a Toughie
by Jim Morgan
MONTGOMERY – The Bucktail Lady Bucks struggled at the plate at Montgomery Thursday as the Lady Red Raiders won 3-1. It was in the bottom of the third where Montgomery scored all three runs on nice hits. It was a game that was going to be who is going to have the right hit at the time needed.
The only Lady Buck that was able to have any clean hits was Myka Poorman as she gave the Bucks their only run in the fifth inning off a double. Tessa Cowfer and Maria D’Onofrio were able to create two walks each during the game. The Montgomery pitcher was able to strikeout 11 Lady Bucks.
Poorman pitched a nice game as she threw just 78 pitches while facing 26 batters. She gave up just 4 hits and 1 walk while striking out 4.
Coach Mike Poorman said Bucktail played good defensively, but could not come up with any hits at bat; leaving 7 runners on base is a lot in these kind of games.
Next game for Bucktail (1-3) is Saturday afternoon at home with Northern Potter starting at 1 p.m.
