Lady ‘Cats Clobber Hollidaysburg, 11-0

BALD EAGLE TOWNSHIP – Despite the cold temperature and wind-driven snow showers, Central Mountain picked up a 11-0 shut-out win over visiting Hollidaysburg.

Picking up where they left off in Middleburg, the Lady Wildcats amassed 11 hits in the 5 inning game that ended under the 10 run mercy rule.

The CM scoring began in the bottom of the first inning on a double from leadoff batter, Josie Dershem, a walk for Caitlyn Brush, an RBI single from Morgan Wetzel and a 2RBI base hit from Skylar Smith to give the Lady ‘Cats a 3-0 lead. Every batter in the lineup made a plate appearance in the first inning before Hollidaysburg retired the side.

Central Mountain picked up two more runs in the second inning off a triple by Caitlyn Brush scoring on a sac fly from Wetzel.Smith reached base on a Hollidaysburg error and crossed the plate on a double from Madalyn Bechdel that gave the Lady Wildcats a 5-0 lead.

It was more of the same for Central Mountain in the bottom of the third inning as they score four more runs.

The action began with with a leadoff double from Autumn Dershem. Brush followed with a single to score Dershem. Then Wetzel pounded out a 2RBI double followed by an RBI single from Smith giving the Lady Wildcats a comfortable 9-0 lead.

Central Mountain wasn’t finished as once more, Autumn Dershem led off the fourth inning with a double. Lexi Strouse and Josie Dershem both picked up walks then Brush plated Autumn Dershem with a sac fly followed by Strouse scoring on a fielder’s choice when Jessica Calson put the ball in play.

Madison Knepp and Alexa Shultz also had base hits in the game.

Caitlyn Brush went the stance for CM with very solid defense behind her. Brush yielding a single hit, 2 walks, striking out 3.

Next up for Central Mountain is a key PHAC contest at Williamsport on Tuesday, April 10 and then at home with rival Jersey Shore on Thursday, April 12, 2018.
