Lady Bucks Edge Muncy 8-7

FARWELL – After playing their first game of the year a week ago and back in the gym for practice because of weather conditions, the Lady Bucks (1-1) were able to squeeze a game in Thursday against Muncy, picking up a win over the Lady Indians, 8-7.

Muncy jumped on the Lady Bucks in the first two innings for a 6-0 lead. The Lady Bucks bats would come alive in the next four innings as they scored eight total runs going into the top of the seventh to turn the tables for a 8-6 Bucktail lead. Muncy would score one run in the seventh to make the final score 8-7.

The Lady Bucks defense played well dispite the cold weather. Emily Cross (C) and Maria D’Onofrio (1B) played strong on the field as they had 9 and 8 putouts respectfully. Tessa Cowfer (2B) showed strong fielding at second with 4 assists and 2 put outs.

Myka Poorman held the Lady Indians in check with a season high of 10 strikeouts. Giving up 6 hits and 4 walks mostly in the first two innings as she settled in on the mound.

The Lady Bucks were lead by Anna Cowfer at the plate going 1 for 1 and walked 3 times. Makenzi Brennan (2-3), Cross (2-4) and T. Cowfer (2-4) all had two hits. Cross and Lexi Labaugh each had a double and Kayli Casper smashed a triple.

Next game for the Lady Bucks is Monday at Millville starting at 4:30 p.m.
