Jersey Shore HS to Host First-Ever 5k Heart Run Saturday
JERSEY SHORE – The students of Jersey Shore High School have organized the first-ever community 5k Heart Run to support the American Heart Association. Runners will begin at Jersey Shore High School and follow the marked route through the community. The high school’s Heart Club will be donating all proceeds to the American Heart Association.
Race participants can register on the day of the race for $30. Race day registration as well as bib pick up will be available starting at 7:30 a.m.
This first annual 5k Heart Run is organized by Jersey Shore students who formulated a Heart Club in order to promote healthy lifestyles to their peers and to their community. The HeartClub’s first year at Jersey Shore has been full of fundraising preparation for the 5k event this April. Students have been actively working to raise money for the Heart Run by organizing a community night at Fly World trampoline place, hosting a babysitting day, and creating a float to promote the club in Jersey Shore’s homecoming parade.
Awards will be given to the top three male and female finishers in each age bracket. The age brackets include 9 and under, 10-15, 16-19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, and 50 and above.
