Tree Branch K.O.’s Tractor-Trailer in Lock Haven’s Hill District (Video Report)
LOCK HAVEN – An Ohio truck driver was greatly startled when the right-front of his tractor-trailer caught on a low-hanging tree branch along the unit block of S. Fairview St. Tuesday morning, the impact pulling the huge maple tree onto the truck cab. The driver was not hurt in the mid-morning crash which closed the street for clean-up for the rest of the morning.
The Cleveland-based driver told therecord-online he had been guided by GPS to turn from Bellefonte Avenue onto S. Fairview. He said the cab’s passenger-side bulkhead caught on the tree branch and the tree came tumbling down. The driver said he was startled and shaken but otherwise uninjured.
He said it was his first trip to Lock Haven, on his way from Georgia to First Quality Tissue to pick up product. He said he was later told there is a more convenient, preferred way, off Paul Mack Boulevard and onto Walnut St. to the First Quality facility.
The accident prompted a massive turnout of city and volunteer personnel to clean-up the site.
