One storm-related death in Clinton County
LAMAR TOWNSHIP—A retired Keystone Central teacher was killed last night, the result of a a strong storm which moved through Lamar Township just after 10 p.m.
Family members identified the victim as Frank Dwyer. They said he was in a second floor bedroom when a large tree crashed into the home, driving Dwyer to the driveway below. He was transported to Williamsport Regional Medical Center where he was pronounced dead.
Site of the accident was along Noll Drive, just off Route 64 in Lamar Township.
Clinton County emergency services director Kevin Fanning said much of the wind damage in Clinton County was in Lamar Township. He said a member of his staff was with a representative from the National Weather Service this morning to gauge the severity and type of wind which traversed the area last night.
Fanning said relatively speaking the county escaped the flash flooding which causes problems in surrounding counties, particularly in the Milesburg-Howard area of Center County and the Warrensville area of Lycoming County. Localize rainfall ranging from four to eight inches was reported across the three county area.
In Clinton County, Fanning said, there was basement flooding and some road closures in poor drainage areas.
