Concern About Drug, Alcohol Related Crimes

let-edTo the Editor:

The people of Western Clinton County are very concerned about drugs and alcohol related crimes. Often this area is accused of not welcoming change. This does not mean Renovo is anti hospitable. It’s hard to find small communities eager to support some people that are less fortunate than themselves when mostly those “less fortunate” are in their struggling situation because of their own wrongdoing.

Renovo is like so many other Pa towns. Renovo wants to achieve prosperity for its people. I don’t see how Renovo can achieve prosperity via a Joshua-house or halfway house regardless if its run on government funds or donations.

Nobody appreciates being lied to. I don’t want to see Renovo become a victim of deception. There are no small towns in Pa that are obligated to take on a reckless action such as inviting in repeat offenders.

One judge in Clinton County tells repeat drug addicts to not move back to the place they overdosed or committed their crime and a judge in Philadelphia is telling these same kinds of people to get on the bus and go to Central Pa. and get a job. So the repeater drug addict rides the bus into Williamsport and they end up in Clinton County. Who’s fooling who and why? All that a repeat offender has to do is live in the public housing one day and BAM, HE /SHE is how a resident of Renovo and supposedly eligible to live in a Joshua house.

I do hope the drug addicts and less fortunate find a healthier, better way in their lives. However nobody needs to live in any Joshua house to become a worthy resident.
