$950,000 in State Funding Heading to Renovo
HARRISBURG – State Rep. Mike Hanna, D-Clinton/Centre, today announced Renovo Borough is receiving two grants: a $200,000 grant from the state’s Community Conservation Partnership Program and a $750,000 grant from the state’s Community Development Block Grant Program.
Hanna said the borough will use the conservation grant to develop public river access at Fifth Street. Work will include building a boat launch, pedestrian pathways, access drive, parking, installing benches, picnic tables and lighting, stormwater management, bank stabilization, fencing, educational signage, ADA access, landscaping and other site improvements.
In addition, Hanna said the borough will use the development grant to reconstruct approximately 2,000 feet of Ontario Avenue from Fourth Street to Eleventh Street, including sidewalks, curbing, handicap ramps, and underground infrastructure, including stormwater, water and sewer systems, as well as demolition and clearance of six blighted structures.
“In order to accomplish these projects, both grants are funded in conjunction with Pennvest funds. I was happy to support these grants to improve outdoor and recreation opportunities, as well as borough-wide revitalization for Clinton County residents and visitors alike,” Hanna said.
Conservation Fund, the Environmental Stewardship Fund and several federal funding sources.
The CCPP program is administered by DCNR’s Bureau of Recreation and Conservation to provide financial and technical assistance to local governments, river and trail organizations, land trusts, and other nonprofits for planning, acquisitions and development of park, recreation, conservation and greenway projects.
The Community Development Block Grant Program is administered by the Department of Community and Economic Development, which provides federal funds to develop viable communities through modest housing and a suitable living environment. Funds are also used to expand economic opportunities geared to low-and moderate-income people and to improve infrastructure critical to community health and welfare.
