Midd-West Tops Lady ‘Cats 41-36





BALD EAGLE TOWNSHIP – Central Mountain went toe-to-toe with the Lady Mustangs of Midd-West in another defensive struggle with the guests edging out hosts 41-36 in Heartland Conference action.
Both teams battled evenly in the first quarter 15-all but the small difference maker came in the second period where CM didn’t keep pace and fell behind 27-23 at the half. That narrow margin would prove enough to carry the day for Midd-West.
The third quarter was a repeat of the first period with both teams scoring 8 point each with the Lady Mustangs holding on to a 35-31 lead.
In the final quarter the Lady Wildcats did keep pace with Midd-West edging them by only 1 point, 6-5 to close out the scoring but CM was never able to put a run together to close the margin.
Leading the way offensively for Central Mountain was Elaina Eckley with 10 points, 6 of those points from outside the 3-point arc. Grayson McCloy and Julia Novosat both scored 8 points with Emily Strouse, 4; Avrie Pringle, 3; Lydia McCaleb, 2; and Lauren Hoy, 1.
