Obituary – Ronald W. Girton, Sr.
Ronald W. Girton, Sr. 83, of Muncy, PA, passed away on June 3, 2025 in his home.
Ron or Butch, as he was known to many, was born in Lock Haven, PA. to Warren and Rhea Pickering Girton on December 30, 1941.
He graduated from Erie Academy High School, Erie, PA. in 1959. He went on to serve in the United States Air Force until 1963, earning the rank of Airman 1st class. He was stationed at Lyon AFB, Lyon, France. The highlight of his time in France was traveling to various locations in Europe playing baseball for the USAF team. He worked at Piper Aircraft, Hammermill Paper Company, Baltimore Life Insurance Company and for the Pennsylvania Liquor Control Board as an Assistant Manager and Manager of the liquor stores in Renovo and Lock Haven for 30 years until his retirement. He was an avid reader, enjoyed playing golf, cards and spending time with his family and friends. He enjoyed serving the community and was involved with many local organizations including, The Western Clinton County Jay-Cees, The Flaming Foliage Committee, The Renovo YMCA, Renovo Youth Baseball, serving as a board member and a coach, The Renovo Area Library, Chapman Township Volunteer Fire Company and a Life member of the Renovo Elks.
Ron is survived by his loving companion, Linda Walizer of Muncy. His son Ronald W. (Kay) Girton, Jr., brother James (Vivian) Girton, Grandchildren, Nicholas S. Girton, Logan P. (Makenzie) Girton, Kallista P. Girton, three great grandchildren, many cousins, nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his Parents Warren and Rhea Pickering Girton, his daughter, Deborah K. (Walter) Girton Payne, and a sister Linda Girton (Michael) Goodling.
A Memorial Service will be held at Gedon Funeral Homes and Cremation Services, LLC 121 W. Main St, Lock Haven, Pa. on Friday, June 6, 11a.m. with Pastor Tim Hartzell officiating. Friends and family will be received in the funeral home from 10 a.m.-11a.m.
Memorial donations may be made to The Renovo Public Library, 317 7th Street Renovo, PA 17764 or the Chapman Township Volunteer Fire Company, 79 Park Ave, North Bend, PA 17760.
The family wishes to extend their gratitude to the Doctors and Nurses at UPMC hospital in Williamsport and UPMC Hospice for their care and treatment.
