Marrin Clester Wins Phoenix Tourney Title

LOGANTON-Lady Phoenix sophomore Marrin Clester captured the 190 pound title in the very first Lady Phoenix Christmas Tournament at the Sugar Valley Rural Charter School on Saturday, as the host squad finished tied for fifth place in the 11-team.
The Lady Eagles of Bald Eagle Area captured the team title with 133 points, while Jersey Shore took second place with 121 points. The rest of the field was Southern Huntingdon (120.5), Mifflinburg (109.5), Sugar Valley Rural Charter School (97), Wellsboro (97), Muncy (88), Bellefonte (64), Line Mountain (56), Benton (45) and Sullivan County (38).
Clester opened the tournament with a fall in 29 seconds over Shaylin Harter of Bald Eagle Area and then in the semifinals she pinned Skyanne Little of Mifflinburg in 1:09 of the first period. ILn the championship finals Clester pinned Kayla Fowler of Sullivan County in 33 seconds of the second period.
Sophomore Evie Andrus took second place for the Lady Phoenix at 130 pounds, as she was pinned by Callie Hess of Benton in the championship finals. Andrus won three straight bouts by fall to get into the championship bout.
Olivia Johnson took third place at 142 pounds, as she lost in the semifinals, but came back with two wins by fall to earn the third place for the Lady Phoenix. Other place winners for the Lady Phoenix were Kohanna Yamashita (112) and Aaliyah Hopkins (124) both placed fifth, while Olivia Clester finished in 6th place at 170.
