First-half lead slips away from LHU Men’s Basketball at Roberts Wesleyan
ROCHESTER, N.Y. – In a tale of two halves, the Lock Haven men’s basketball team fell victim to hot long-range shooting from Roberts Wesleyan and the Bald Eagles fell, 97-88, in a non-conference game on the road on Saturday afternoon (Nov. 16).
Lock Haven built a 13-point lead in the first half, but Roberts Wesleyan caught fire from behind the arch coming out of the break and outscored Lock Haven 38-17 over the opening 12 minutes of the second half to lead 77-69 with eight minutes to go. The Red Hawks outscored The Haven 18-0 from 3-point land during the run.
Roberts Wesleyan went on to knock down seven threes in the half and pulled away for a 97-88 victory.
Five Bald Eagles finished in double figures, led by Idris Ali, Isaiah Stewart and Eli Washington, who each finished with 13. Washington led Lock Haven in assists with five, while Stewart added five rebounds.
Gabe Springer and Mike Knouse rounded out the Bald Eagles in double figures, finishing with 12 and 10, respectively. Springer pulled in a team-high nine rebounds and Knouse knocked down a pair of triples.
In the first half, the Bald Eagles shot a scorching 60 percent (15-of-25) from the floor to lead 52-39 heading into the break. Lock Haven knocked down four trifectas and shot 18-of-22 at the charity stripe. Idris Ali led all scorers with 11 points in the first half.
Lock Haven moves to 1-3 overall and Roberts Wesleyan improves to 2-2 on the season.
Saturday marked the fourth straight road game for the Bald Eagles to kick off the 2024-25 season.
