Central Mountain Tennis Falls Short in 3-2 Battle Against Shikellamy

SUNBURY-The Central Mountain girls tennis team traved to Shikellamy on Tuesday in a closely contested match. Despite a strong effort, Central Mountain fell just short in a 3-2 decision.

In singles action, Sabrina Doebler from Shikellamy battled back to defeat Ellie Harry of Central Mountain 5-7, 6-0, 6-2. McKenzie Boyer followed suit, outlasting Molly Dubbs 6-4, 4-6, 6-3. Central Mountain’s Emily Brinker secured the lone singles win, defeating Makenna Hoffman 6-4, 4-6, 6-3.

In doubles, Shikellamy’s duo of Aiyannah Reid and Emmy Underkoffler narrowly edged out Audra Eaton and Kassie Williams in two tight sets, 7-6 (7-2), 7-5. However, Central Mountain responded with a doubles win, as Leah Wian and Tess Akeley defeated Kallie Fisher and Mariela Lainez 6-2, 7-6 (7-2).

Central Mountain continues to show grit and determination on the court and will look to bounce back in their next match home on Thursday against Central Columbia.
